New Delhi, India - I was fortunate to be around when the Holi puja was
performed at Shri Mataji's residence in Gurgaon on friday Mar 29, 2002. The
entire puja lasted approx. 45 min. The puja started with a small speech by Shri
Mataji, which may have lasted for around 15 minutes. Mother spoke primarily
about three
things...
* The festival of Holi was introduced by Lord Krishna to bring about some enthusiasm
in the life of people, which had become serious after the advent of Lord Rama.
* The modern day world and people have made a mockery of this festival, by
leaving behind the true essence of Holi and resorting to wild ways to celebrate
this festival.
* Mother mentioned that Holi signifies destruction of all the evil and destructive
forces which disturb the good and divine. She mentioned the story of Pralahad
and Holika. Pralhad's father, who was a rakshasa wanted to kill him, and therefore,
asked his sister Holika to take him in her lap and sit on the pyre so that the
kid can be burnt to death (Holika had a boon from the god that she will never
succumb to fire). However, since she tried to kill Prahald who represented the
divine, she herself got burnt and nothing happened to Prahald. Mother mentioned
that, similarly all the sahaja yogis have her protection around them, and if
any such evil forces try to disturb them, these forces would be destroyed. Mother
also mentioned that all the sahaja yogis should never resort to any destructive
or evil behaviour against others since it is not correct and the divine does
not support such actions.
After the speech all the leaders who were present there and some ladies offered
kumkum and gulal at Mother's lotus feet. Sadhana didi(Shri Mataji's daughter)
who was also present there, offered some water colored with Tesu at Mother's
feet. We then offered sweets to Mother and also some gulal to be vibrated for
the yogis to play with. Shri Mataji then asked all the yuva shakti members to
take the vibrated gulal and play with in the garden next to her house. With
that everyone did pranam to Shri Mataji and proceeded outside to play with colors.
!Happy Holi!
